Kunde Family Estate - Wines
2005 Chardonnay Nu
Harvest/Winemaking
- Our 2005 Chardonnay Nu comes mostly from Clone 76, a Chardonnay selection that emphasizes floral and citrus flavors.
- The first grapes for this wine came in on September 22 and the last on October 4, 2005.
- Harvested from three vineyards at different sugars, the various components contribute their own unique qualities to the blend - the earlier picking adds lightness and a mineral texture, the later concentration and 'lemon-drop' acidity to the finish.
- Not allowing the juice to ferment and age in new oak barrels has brought out the pure, fresh expression of the Chardonnay grape.
Food Pairing
Fish tacos, ceviche, or fresh oysters.
Winemaker's Comments
"There's a certain feeling you get sitting on the beach, maybe in Mexico: vital, fresh, alive. That's what it's like to drink the 2005 Kunde Estate Chardonnay Nu. The ripe peach and pears in the aroma comes with a hint of floral aromas that may make you think of exotic tropical plants. The fresh, crisp flavors of tangerine, grapefruit, vanilla, and minerals leave a clean feeling behind."
