Savory Swiss Steak


3 medium sweet yellow onions - sliced thin
2 pounds swiss steak, pre-tenderized and cut into 2" strips
1 T. horseradish
1 pound sliced mushrooms
1 cup flour
1 tbsp worcestershire sauce
Salt and pepper to taste


Place flour and generous amount of salt and pepper in plastic zip lock bag. Dredge the steak in the flour mixture.

Preheat large stew pot and add 1 tablespoon olive oil. Brown the steak on each side, adding more olive oil as needed. Brown steak strips in batches. Don't overcrowd the pan.

When browning is complete, place all the steak in the bottom of the stew pot and add sliced onions, mushrooms, horseradish and worcestershire sauce.

Cover and simmer on low for approximately two hours, stirring occasionally. Use additional salt and pepper as needed.
