Tostada Pizza
- ⅓ - ½ lb. hamburger
- 1-2 garlic cloves - minced
- ¼ teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon dried oregano
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ cup scallions – thinly sliced
- 1 tomato - chopped
- ½ cup black olives - sliced
- 1 ½ cup shredded jack cheese
- ½ cup cotija - crumbled (Mexican cheese)
- olive oil
- optional toppings - fresh sautéed corn, sour cream
- 1 homemade or store bought pizza dough - rolled to 12-14 inches
Preparation
- Heat grill or oven on high heat to 500 degrees with pizza stone inside.
- Cook hamburger in 1 tablespoon olive oil over medium heat for 3 minutes then add 1 minced garlic clove, salt, pepper, paprika, dried oregano and onion powder. Continue cooking until browned - drain and set aside in bowl.
- Prepare toppings and cheeses.
- Prepare pizza – dust flour or cornmeal under crust for easy transfer to pizza stone. Gently brush dough with olive oil, sprinkle jack cheese then add hamburger.
- Slide pizza onto hot stone and cook for 4-8 minutes until cheese is melted and sides of crust are crispy.
- Sprinkle top of hot pizza with olives, tomato, scallions and cottage cheese (corn and sour cream if using). Serve immediately.
