Crafted exclusively for our Wine Club members, this boldly flavored, fruit forward
wine is layered with plum reduction and smoky aromatics. Flavors of jammy
blackberries and cherry are focused on the palate with hints of smoked meat that are
enriched by the wine’s rich tannin structure.
Winemaker’s Comments: “Alicante is treated much like a very tannic Cabernet Sauvignon from a
winemaking standpoint. The skins are very astringent and maceration time is monitored to avoid over-extraction. But since Alicante is usually used as a blender, having a tannic wine is useful for adding strength and structure to other blends. This Alicante Bouschet was a real surprise in
that the fruit was extraordinary and the tannins were strong but in check. We’ve never bottled an Alicante by itself and this is a delightful example of a wine that is usually in a supporting role that is truly demanding the spotlight!”
