Apricots, peaches, and honey with a creamy, opulent, and viscous palate! A delightful late harvest wine that is bottled in honor of our family matriarch, Leslie Kunde. This is a very limited bottling for those of you who like something a little sweet, just like our mother Leslie.
We selected barrels from the 2012-2015 vintages. Though the conditions weren't ideal for Botrytis growth, we left the grapes on the vines a few weeks longer, giving them time to develop the optimal levels of sugar and flavor for a late harvest wine. The grapes were selected off the vines once we had enough berry shrivel to indicate water loss, and therefore intense sugars and favors. Twenty-four-hour skin contact prior to pressing led to a very long, slow fermentation. This was aged for an average of seven years in neutral French oak barrels, and bottled in June 2021.
VARIETAL BLEND: 62% Chardonnay, 21% Muscat, 7% Sémillon, 5% Viognier, 5% White Wine
WINEMAKER COMMENTS: It is both a treat and an honor to craft something special to commemorate someone special. A wine like this will only improve as it ages, so if you can't wait, buy extra to save for years to come.
